Membership Drive
From the Membership Committee.
Over the last three months we have contacted about a dozen people with a view to them becoming members of our Rotary club.  Though we have had no outright refusals as yet, most prospective members have expressed a desire to delay joining for some months until various aspect of their personal, family or professional live changed and joining Rotary would be easier for them. We intend to follow up on these possibilities in the timeframes that were suggested. In the meantime we are continuing to approach more people and we thank Rotarians for supplying us with a list of names of people whom we could approach.
Please consider bringing a guest to rotary yourself if you think a person would make a good member. If you don’t wish to do this yourself then please contact me (or one of the membership committee) and I will add your suggestion to our list and my committee will take the appropriate action.
Increasing our club membership is vital to our clubs survival so we would appreciate all the assistance you can give us.
Members would also be a real help to us by ensuring that when a club guest does attend Rotary that everyone goes out of their way to introduce themselves to the prospect and to talk with them. It is important that prospective members understand that we are an inclusive and friendly club.
Many Thanks
Bill (Director) JD, Jill, Moggie and Marie

Rotary Auction 2020
Our famous and fabulous Auction Night has now come and gone and for the benefit of those whom were not there you missed a great night.
We raised over $10,500 on the night. This compares with;
2019        $12,000
2018        $11,000
2017        $9,000
Proceeds are used predominately to meet the Club's commitment to the Rotary Foundation and Polio Campaign,  also to assist Club projects and Activities in General.
WELL DONE EVERYBODY

Shelter Box

ShelterBox first started as a Millenium project by the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard in Cornwall in 2000.

Since then, it has grown to be an international disaster relief charity, providing emergency shelter in some of the most hard-to-reach places in the world.

In the last 20 years, we have supported 1.5 million people in nearly 100 countries, and we haven’t stopped.

In 2020, coronavirus has made us adapt how we work to reach even more vulnerable families.

The Fiordland Rotary Club has just donated $500 towards Shelter Box

With your support, we can do more.

Manapouri - Chatham Islands Direct
After a lot of frustrations, I have been able to get approval to operate an Aircraft Charter, from Manapouri airport once again, direct to Chatham Islands
In fact I have booked two charters “Back-To-BacK” out of Manapouri Airport over New Year.
The aircraft will be Air Chathams newly acquired 68 seat ATR.
However there will only be 43 passengers on each of the two tours
The first tour would have the opportunity of being the first in the world to see the sun for 2021 as well as having New Years Eve on Chatham.
The other special attraction on this tour is the Chatham Island Races. This is probably Chatham Islanders biggest "Family Fun Day" of the year..
The Jockey Club was first formed in 1874 and reputed to be the oldest Jockey Club in NZ
The 2nd Tour is almost full already

I can also offer discounted Air Travel only, ONE WAY--- EITHER WAY @ $500 per person

Tour # 33
Sun 27th Dec 2020 depart Manapouri 3.00pm - arrive 6.15pm (CI time)
Sun   3rd Jan 2021, depart Chatham Islands 10:00am -  arrive Manapouri 11:45am

Tour # 29
Sun 27th Dec 2020 depart Manapouri 3.00pm - arrive 6.15pm (CI time)
Sun   3rd Jan 2021, depart Chatham Islands 10:00am -  arrive Manapouri 11:45am

I always thought it would be a “Hoot” to offer a flight to Fiordland Rotarians and their friends before opening it to the wider public.
The all-inclusive cost per person of the 8 day 7 night tour is;
 Single,  shared facilities            $4,370
Standard twin / double  ensuite  $4,470
Superior double                          $4,570

Those that book early, will have a choice of either tour and their choice of accommodation.
Make up your party now whilst there is room.
