Bonus Addition
Two bulletins within a week is unusual! This one fills some holes and provides some background information.
Apologies
If you cannot attend a meeting it is your duty to advise The Club (office@teanauclub.org.nz,  03 249 7113) and the Treasurer Rudd  ( idabr@xtra.co.nz , 03 249 7452). If you have a scheduled duty you need to arrange a replacement and advise President Doug (dougandshirl@xtra.co.nz, 03 249 7591) before the meeting.
If you are aware you cannot attend a future meeting please also advise the Bulletin Editor Alan (abandsballinger@vodafone.co.nz, 03 249 8969) so that you are not allocated any duties during your absence.
This all contributes to the smooth running of your club.
Food Drop
A blue sky saw 6 hardy souls leave for the Divide on Monday 13 Feb for a trip to Lake Howden. The purpose is to resupply a tramping party escorted by the Rotary Club of Milton walking the Routeburn/Greenstone track. The Milton Club run these trips as a fund raiser for the South Otago Adventure Trust and in turn they also make a donation to Fiordland for our assistance. John Donaldson has been leading and coordinating these trips for about the last 15 years. The weather deteriorated during the trip and it was 6 very bedraggled members who returned! Better luck on the 6th March.
Bird Park
On a beautiful evening (rare this summer) club members visited the Bird Park for a tour by Ranger Catherine. The main attraction is always the Takahe and this time the chance to meet a young chick. The Takahe had been thought extinct until rediscovered in 1948 by Invercargill’s Dr Orbell in the Murchison Mountains. Close to one third or 130  of the NZ Takahe population are resident here. We also had the pleasure of meeting a Morepork Owl, Green Parakeet and Kaka. Catherine also highlighted a number of projects that Rotary might like to consider undertaking.
Duties
The duties roster below has been updated to cover the period 9 Feb to 2 March. There has been one change to the list for 16 Feb: Keith Cullen has replaced Keith Thompson. Apologies to both from ‘The Trainee’. The numbers of available club members means that you can expect a duty about once a month so do not be surprised if you keep seeing your name in print!

With some new members it is timely to remind us all of the general nature of each of the duties. A couple each bulletin should not over tax you too much!

Mini Talk
Speak on any subject for three minutes.  Do not talk for longer as this is embarrassing to the President and the Guest Speaker who is the meeting’s main Speaker.  If your chosen topic requires more time, see the person nominated to organize the Guest Speakers for a main speaker slot.

Raffle
Arrive with enough time before the meal to sell tickets to all members. The
price is $1 per ticket. Proceeds go to our administration account. Prepare ticket
butts  for the draw.  Select a suitable person to draw the winning ticket. Give
ticket to President.  Advise the Secretary if the number of raffle books is getting
low.
Club Duties
The following people have been allocated to duties for the next few weeks.

Please note that if your name is listed here it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement for your duty if you are not going to be available. You must also inform Pete if have swapped so that he can be properly prepared for the meeting (027 370 7649).  Ideally, if you have swapped a couple of weeks ahead it would also be helpful to email Alan so that duties can be fairly allocated across everyone - abandsballinger@vodafone.co.nz
