Welcome to Merv, our new Bulletin Editor
Merv has agreed to take on the Club Bulletin duty to support Craig from July.  Merv attended the Directors meeting last week as an observer and is usually at most of our meetings so with a bit of training, I'm sure it won't take Merv long to start reporting our Club activities online.

APOLOGIES - So please note this change if you are planning your holidays - make sure you let Merv know when you will be away so he can organise the duties list accordingly - see Merv's contact details are in the duties section.

Thanks Merv, we appreciate your support!

Our Club Decision on South Island merger
At the time of releasing this Bulletin, I have received 15 replies to my email sent out a couple of days ago - 13 in agreement and 2 against so it seems we will be voting, as a Club, to support the merger.

Thanks for everyone who has responded as requested and if you still want to vote, you have until 4pm 11 March to reply.

Thanks
President Jane

Conference 17-19 April, Balclutha
I do believe that all members are aware of the Conference details, I have been sending information and reminding everyone each week for the last few weeks and so far there is Craig, Sue, Linda, Lloyd and myself going.

Looks like this year will be a small representation from Te Anau.  I had booked 5 double rooms at the Highway Lodge in Balclutha but as it seems there will be only 3 rooms required, I will cancel the other 2 rooms by the end of this week so this is your last chance - if you want to join us, you will need to let me know by Friday 13 March at the latest.

And remember those Personal Polio Challenge containers that Tania gave out last year ??  If you have one, I will be collecting them back the week before Conference so bring them along to our 16 April meeting, or earlier and lets see what we've been able to raise as a Club.  I have approx. $1200 that I've raised from a couple of events from last year which you all helped with so if you haven't already raised some money for the End Polio Now Challenge, you have just over a month to see what you can do.

Thanks
President Jane

Club Food Bank
Jane has purchased (and donated the cost) 16 glass containers, perfect for creating a meal from leftovers to store in our freezer at Don's place.  There is always someone in our family that needs some support so if you would like to grab a container or two, they will be bought along to the Thursday meetings at The Club so help yourself.

We will put a return container message on each one so that we can collect them back once used.

Then if you want to deliver a meal, just head along to the container at Don's place at 27 Paton Place and around the back of the garage the freezer is now inside the container so help yourself to the meals and make sure the recipient then returns the container to you or another member to bring back to The Club for reuse.

And a great excuse for a Pot Luck Winter meal to use up all the meals so they don't stay forever in the freezer!!

Thanks Linda for the great idea!

Bottle Auction 23 April
An idea from our neighbours in Invercargill - find a bottle of something special, something different and wrap it up to be judged for presentation and then we'll auction them off to raise money for local community projects.

Well Done Pete!

Hi everyone,

It is now more than 2 weeks since our big event and I want to give you all an update on the total amount raised so far for Hospice Southland.

The sponsorship money continues to trickle in and as at Friday afternoon 6th March the total was just over $21,000 so well done to those who have put the effort in to gain maximum sponsorship. There were a number of riders who registered quite late but hopefully you were still able to make a reasonable contribution to the fundraising part of this event.

I know there are some riders who have still not put their money through to Hospice at this stage so can you please make a concerted effort to get this collected from your sponsors and put it through in the next couple of weeks.

We would like to get our total finalised by Monday 23rd March if at all possible and then the Sponsor-A-Rider link on the Hospice Southland website can be shut down for this year.

The photos of this event that were taken by District Governor Tania Lowery, are loaded on the Rotary website so I will get Wayne Hunt to send out the link to everyone so you can see them and download any you wish to save.

Thank you Tania and Wayne.

I am away to USA on Wednesday morning 25th March so I will let you know the total amount raised the day before I go.

Thanks again to everyone who helped in some way to make this event a success

I hope you will all join us again next year and encourage others to participate too.

Warmest regards,

Ron
