Judy Mathews (16 March)
This is a Partners Night. Normal meeting time and place (The Club). Judy will talk about the success of the annual Te Anau Flower Show and the role of Judges.
 
Scout Visit Details (23 March)
This is a Partners Night. Meet at the new den by the Bird Park at 6:30 pm where the Scouts will prepare a meal for us and demonstrate some of their activities while showing off the new den.
Rotary Conference 2017
It is not too late to Register for this year’s Rotary Conference in Wanaka. A sizable contingent from Te Anau has already registered but it is not too late to join them! See http://9980conference.co.nz for more details.
Lane McDuff
Now in his final year at Fiordland College Lane was last year’s recipient of the Club’s funding to attend the annual Science Fair in Auckland. The Fair runs over two weeks with delegates being exposed to three Auckland Universities and undertaking work on a total of sixteen science modules. Some time is also available for social and tourist activities. There were 160 attendees this time. Lane was very appreciative of the Club’s support and is considering returning to Auckland to study medicine next year.

Donations
At Board meetings held this year the following donations have been approved:
  • Mitchell Flynn – Selected as part of Grade 12 & 13 Southland Interprovincial Athletics team – Travelling to Masterton – $400.00 granted
  • Te Anau School – Life Education Bus – $956.25 granted
  • Lynley Wason – To attend Primitive Reflexes course in Christchurch – $660.00 granted
  • Te Anau Tennis Club – Resurface courts – $2500.00 granted
  • We also received a donation from Te Anau Spring Flower Show Committee of $250.00, for the clubs support in manning the door.
 
Microphone
The Board wants all addressing the Club to use the microphone. A speaking place will be provided, with a microphone, please use it so all members can be aware of your input to club activities. Many members will appreciate your consideration.
 
Lake Howden
It is understood that the weather was no better for the second trip into Lake Howden on 6 March than it was on 13 February. The brave souls this time were Lionel, Linley, Mary, Shelley, and MJ. The first trip consisted of JohnD, Shelley, Linley, David, Alan and MJ. A good fundraiser for the club and support for other Rotarians as well. A special thanks to John Donaldson for his organisation of this activity.
