First Committee Night for the Year - 29 August
29 August will be a Committee night - I have been busy preparing a Power Point presentation and handouts for you all to inform everyone about what we, as a Club, should be doing for the coming year.  The goals are not hard to achieve but they will require a concerted effort from everyone to do just a little and then it will make it so much easier -  we have some very dedicated members who do a lot of work behind the scenes so please come along and support them by just turning up.  Following my presentation, groups will discuss the information and decide what they want to do and how they want to organise their year and then in October we will do the same again and catch up on progress.

So it would be really good to see as many Members as possible on 29 August - I'm hoping to entice you to with some sweet treats to keep you energised and focused during the session!

If you have some ideas about what we can do as a Club for the year, then come along and share so that we can make this year a busy and productive one which is what everyone likes about our Club - having fun and achieving great things!

Thanks in advance for your support and see you there

President Jane

Member Survey
We are slowly getting these back from Members but it would be really good if everyone could complete a survey - they don't take long - and have them back by the end of the month.  Craig has initiated this survey and its an excellent way of looking at how we operate and whether we can "do it better".  Change is constant and can be very positive in keeping the Club alive, active and engaging so please help us out by giving us your thoughts.

Forms are available at the door (and then returned to the door) on Rotary nights, or if you want, I can email a copy to anyone away who wants to complete one but is away.

Thanks
Jane

BBQ at Steamers Beach
Don reported to our Directors Meeting last week that this Presidential Project from last year is now ready for action.  Over the next few weeks Don will be organising the people who will be involved in the build and hopes to have this completed by early Spring.  Once complete, we intend to have an official opening of the BBQ to celebrate the completion of the project by attracting locals for a BBQ and raise our profile by sharing photos etc on social media.

Don hopes to start work on the concrete pad before the end of this month, so watch out for progress over by the yacht club soon.

Friends of Rotary
We are setting up an email list for all Friends of Rotary.  Over the years we have gathered around us a number of dedicated "friends" who help us out at events etc and do enjoy the engagement with our Club but don't want to become a committed member.

Please feel free to nominate a Friend to either Jane or Sarah.

Cycle Event Feb 2020
As I have mentioned at recent meetings, this annual event from Te Anau to Invercargill is now a big deal!!  We have a duty to make sure we not only enter as many members as possible and put a strong support team together to encourage those members who might not feel they can do the whole race, but we also need to be involved in the organisation at the start of the event, including a BBQ for organisers the night before here in Te Anau.

Due to the need for training (!!) for most of us that plan to enter - we need to have a Planning Meeting soon.

Can I suggest that anyone interested in this event in any way, together with those members of the Club Administration Committee, stay after our meeting on Thursday 22 August to discuss - anyone interested in helping or participating in any way are welcome to come along.

See you then.
Thanks
Jane

Members Contact Details
For the last few weeks we have been updating members contact details so thank you for those that have already completed the form and if you haven't already done so, please fill in your details at the door next time you come to Rotary.

I have updated those received to date and I'm quite surprised that probably 80% of member information has required some change, so its definitely a timely exercise.  This information is used by Rotary International to send your Rotary Magazine each month and I hope to start getting Directors to use our Website to communicate with each of their Committee members.

Improving communication is a great way of keeping you all informed about what's happening at Rotary when you don't always come to meetings.

Resignation from Shelley Neilson
It is with regret that I have accepted Shelley's resignation from the Fiordland Rotary Club.   Shelley has been with the Club for approx. 9 years and has enjoyed her time immensely.  Shelley is very keen to keep in contact with Rotary events etc so will become a "Friend of Rotary" whereby she will continue to receive our Bulletin and she intends to continue to help out at events where possible.

The Club will formally bid farewell to Shelley next Thursday 8 August.
