Comedy in the Woolshed
The Comedy in the Woolshed is Back! Put it in your calendar 29th April at the Davaar Station Woolshed. Rotary has secured 50 tickets for our members to this great event. Tickets are $100 each and include a fantastic meal. Drinks are available at the cash/ Eftpos bar on the night.
This year there are 3 international comedians from England, Ireland & Scotland.
Rotary need volunteers for the day before, the day after and on the night. If anyone can help please let Sandra or myself know.
The Comedy in the Woolshed committee are still working to finalise some more details so once I have them I will let you know.

Treasurers Report
Although we were away from Rotary for a few weeks over the holiday period, its been a busy time in the Treasury department!

The Chip Van has been busy, lots of money coming in (and going out!) but its lining up to be a bumper season - our last event is at Easter so I will report soon after with the final net profit for the season on that.

Also money has come in and gone out for the New Years Eve activities - Shayne has yet again surpassed himself with all the work involved in making this year a massive success.  We are now in the process of reporting back to those entities that provided funding with proof of the expenditure via bank statements etc etc - as I say, a lot of work for Shayne, so well done for all the behind the scenes work involved.

We supported a RYLA Candidate from another club so that was $900 well spent - regardless that they were not from our Club.

Following my email regarding our support to Cycle Gabrielle, I did not receive one negative response to my request for members support, so we have just sent $5000 to RNZWCS (Rotary NZ World Community Service) who are the official Rotary entity that handles relief all over the world for such events - who would have thought it would have been support for our own country!

Finally, we are about to send $6000 to Rotary Foundation, being our annual contribution to support foundation and polio.  This is where the money from our Tankard (now being invoice) goes towards each year.

Our accounts are healthy - too healthy!!!  We have $53,000 on term deposit, $17,500 in our Trust account as well as $6388 in our Club account - as of 2 March.

My view is that having a healthy bank account is not what Rotary is about - we raise money to support our local community so keeping in our bank is not ideal.  So lets all work together to put that money bank into the community, this means ideas please where we should invest.

My next big job is to invoice all the advertisers of the Community Phone book that is about to be distributed - which will give us even more money to put in the bank ..... so again, thoughts and ideas how we should redistribute this money.

Until next month, thanks for your continued prompt payments - the new accounting system is working really well and most people have now got the hang of checking which account to pay their money into!!

Apologies
This note is being sent to all members as a reminder of their obligations when unable to attend a meeting.

A reminder of the process for lodging an apology:
1) All apologies are to be lodged by 9 am on the prior Wednesday

3) Send an email to Treasurer Jane janetaupo@gmail.com      (021 024 00344)
4) Send an email to President Craig rcofp2021@gmail.com     (021 249 7775)
5) If scheduled for a duty, please arrange a substitute, and advise President Craig

PLEASE NOTE: As the roster has been drawn up so as everybody gets an equal share, if you arrange a substitute, try and swap with another person with the same duty perhaps the following week.
PLEASE NOTE: It is important that you let President Craig know who that substitute is.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to attend to your Duty please arrange a substitute, many don't check the roster and miss their obligation and this puts pressure on other members and creates confusion. .

Your assistance to this simple process will assist us and The Club to operate effectively.
