  • We have two new prospective members Lynley Jones and Cheryl Ralley who are keen to join. Craig also has names of two others who have been invited to attend.
  • Phone book sales have been very good. Please help us by selling 10 if you haven’t already done so.
  • We are organising RYE exchange people from Tasmania in May. At this stage we are looking for Rotarians to host them for three nights, some to accompany them either biking, walking or to Milford Sound and others to have them for an evening meal. They may also need pick-ups and a ride to the airport on the Sunday. If you can help with any of these tasks and to spread the load that would be really great thank you.
  • We passed an application to sponsor Forrest Wilson for half the funds he needs to go on a Aotearoa Youth Delegation - $335.
  • The Te Anau Bird Park has requested some more funding for gates $1000.00. It was decided that we would do the projects we are committed to first and then fund their request if expenses permit.
  • We are ordering High Vis tops to wear when we are doing any Rotary work so as we are visible representation of Rotary in the community.
  • We spent time discussing options for the ongoing Roadside Project which to date has no solution. Time and money are running out for this commitment and a letter is being constructed to be sent to the SDC/TACB for discussion and their support to again approach Transit for signage, so as we can advertise for a corporate annual sponsor.
  • We need to undertake some work around creating a Risk Management plan which can be implemented when we do projects in the Community.
  • The problem of Canada Geese was also discussed.
  • We accepted Mary Climo’s resignation with regret and thanked her for her work as a Rotarian over past years, including her year as President and her work on the bulletin this past year. We hope she enjoys more time travelling, socialising and promoting business interests with Nigel. We know too that she will lend a hand when her expertise is called for and remain a ‘Friend of Rotary’.
  • Harry Macnamara was our Trade Grant recipient. He is undertaking an electrical apprenticeship with Blair Sutherland.
  • The validity of the Trade Grant criteria needs to be relooked at and probably tidied up so as we have more applicants towards the end of this year.
