REPORT TO LIONS BOARD
PROJECT - Charity concert with Suzanne Prentice for Southland Hospice

Timing - Suzanne has agreed that she is available for Friday 5 April and that she
could also be available for the night of Saturday 6 April if we were very
successful at selling seats. She would not expect any payment if the
Hospice is to get the proceeds but she would expect to be accommodated
for the night of the concert(s). She is holding those dates for us.

Venue - Fiordland Events Centre is booked for 5 April and hold on 6 April as well.
Booking confirmed by Jude Cantwell. No discussion about cost of venue
hire. She did confirm that seating limit for fire purposes is 350 people.
Format - Suzanne has agreed that she would do two sessions of around 25-30
minutes each and that we could add in a local act or acts.
I had a brief discussion with Suzanne about price of seats and she was
happy to leave that to us.

Back-up Act(s) - I have spoken to Jackie Knowles about the Te Anau Ukelele Group being a
support act and she has said that they would be available on 5 April. She
also thought that if the proceeds were going to the Hospice then she would
seek agreement from her group to play FOC.
I also understand that David Pickett is part of a successful group and he
tells me that they once performed in Lower Hut with Suzanne Prentice. He
thought that he could round up several of his group if we wanted another
support act. No commitment made and no discussion on whether they
would be paid.
Sound Systems - Suzanne is going to refer a sound technician from Invercargill to me.
She has worked with him before and he has all of her backing tracks
recorded. No indication of cost but presumably they would not work FOC

Things to do - Broadly speaking to move forward from here we need:

1. Te Anau Lions to confirm this is a goer as a fundraiser for Southland
Hospice with no financial off-take by our club.

2. Lions needs to consider discussing this project as a joint service
clubs effort ASAP. (I have already had an informal discussion with
Brian McCandless about this idea). A joint organising group would
need to be formed and take over from there. I am happy to be part of
that.

3. The organising group then needs to firm up on the acts and the
format

4. The group needs to decide on who would stage manage the event

5. The group would need to decide on seat prices, printing of tickets
and allocation of how the tickets would be sold.

6. The group would need to make an approach to Geoff Thompson
about The Distinction hosting Suzanne and maybe also the sound
people

7. The group would need to decide on what stage setting is necessary.
