We have had a busy start to our rotary year which is set to continue over the next few weeks.
After our opening night we had a fantastic meeting the following week with the combined Lions Clubs with Marg
Hughes presenting on a very worthwhile project in the Suzanne Prentice Hospice fundraiser plan. I am pleased to
report that the directors fully supported this venture as our first combined event and there is a planning meeting this
Wednesday which we will have a report on, on Thursday.

Thursday sees our annual outing to the Bowling Club which will be one of the last on the old rink as the club
prepares to launch into a $400,000 project to install a new all-weather rink. 6.00pm start with cash bar & BBQ.
Congratulations to Brian and his team on this mammoth venture.
The 22 nd of February will be our visit to the residents of the Murchison Villas which will involve a games night with
the residents and us providing dinner via the chip van albeit with a slightly upgraded menu. Dinner cost for this
outing will be $20 for Rotarians and free for the residents.

We will have the pleasure on the 29 th of February of inducting two new members in Bradley Foote and Angela
Monteith and our guest speaker will be our recent Science & Technology recipient, Agustin Cerda-Lopez, Agustin had
a rather rocky time in Auckland which he may share with us.

The Directors have recommended to the Trustees that the following grants be approved:
Harry McGlade: Outward Bound $3,500
Fiordland College: Life Education Bus $450 approx.
Te Anau Waitangi Charitable Trust: Waitangi Day $1,000
Te Anau Bowling Club: New Rink $10,000

I regret to advise that Jane Grant has tendered her resignation from our Rotary Club effective immediately.
This leaves a massive void to fill as our treasurer. There is a proposal that we split the treasurer’s workload into two
separate roles if this would make it more manageable. You will all be aware that the club cannot function without a
treasurer so if you have any suggestions or might be able to assist then please get in touch with me.

On a positive note, Gareth has agreed to take up the reigns again as Foundation Director and we thank him for his
offer.

I look forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks.
Regards Don
