April 4th - Jo Marsh and Nadine Allan spoke to us about the newly set up Fiordland
Families Network. This organisation aims to support families by connecting agencies and putting young people in touch with other organisations where they may seek friendship, help or advice. Rotary donated to this worthwhile cause.
April 11th - We enjoyed a night out at The Alpine Centre Café. A visiting Rotarian from Auckland, John Ainsley spoke to us about a length of NZ walk raising funds for Prostate Cancer. We also had the pleasure of inducting Cheryl Ralley and Lynley Jones into our club as new members.
April 18th – To celebrate our 40th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Fiordland, John Donaldson, a Charter Member spoke about original club formation and club history. It was both informative, interesting and we toasted and celebrated the input past members have had in shaping our club over that time.
April 25th – No meeting as the Te Anau Club had a busy day with ANZAC Day and a contingent of 12 of us were making our way to the Oamaru District 9980 Conference weekend.
May 2nd – Catherine Brimecombe from DOC gave us an enthusiastic update of the recent work undertaken by Ken McChlery, Pete Robertson and other Rotarians at The Bird Park. She was very appreciative of their efforts, she has good ideas for the future and she says the response from the public too has been very rewarding.
May 9th – We hosted the Professional Development Exchange Team from Tasmania. They gave us a great presentation of Tasmania which certainly has encouraged a few of us to chalk down as a desirable holiday destination! They are talented group of young people and during the weekend there will be a great swap of ideas and thoughts between us.
