Spring is here.
What does that mean? Spud time is here.

David's hints to get the best from your spud:

1. Leave your potato seed out and sprout it until sprouts about 2-4cm long.

2. Sometime in Oct you can put into your container. No hurry.

3, Find a sunny, sheltered, frost free spot for your container.

4. Add some planting mix, up to about 10cm deep.

5. Place your seed potatoes on top. Cover with more planting mix (10cm deep) and water.

6. Water enough to keep the mix just moist, not soaking wet or your potatoes will rot!

7. When the plants reach 15cm high, add some more potting mix, leaving about 5cm of the plants uncovered. Repeat this until the container is full.

8. If you feed your potato plants they'll reward you with a bumper crop at harvest. When they are growing in containers potatoes like to be fed once a month until flowering time.

9. Harvest time is Thursday 8th February.
